Free day at city races

Free entry is available to country residents on June 24.

THE VICTORIAN Racing Club (VRC) wants to see regional faces at Flemington for Provincial and Country Raceday.

To recognise the VRC’s strong connection to regional racing, country Victorians are invited to a day out at Flemington on Saturday, June 24.

Residents from Victorian provincial and country areas can gain free general admission entry to Flemington by presenting ID showing their residential address with postcode.

They will also have the opportunity to experience the magic of Flemington, with complimentary racecourse admission and entry into the exclusive VRC Members’ Enclosure.

The day will feature the David Bourke Provincial Plate (1600m) for horses that have participated in at least three non-metropolitan races in the past 12 months.

Members of country and provincial race clubs can arrange a complimentary VRC Members’ Enclosure guest pass by printing and filling the online form at and bringing this to the gate on raceday.

The offer will include a $10 food and beverage voucher per person and a chance to sign up for a tour of the VRC Heritage Centre, plus the opportunity to have a photograph taken with the 2017 Emirates Melbourne Cup trophy from 12-2pm.

Members are reminded to bring their provincial or country race club membership card on the day.

VRC Members’ dress regulations will apply.

Gates open at 10:40am, with the first of nine races at 11:40am.

Special train services will be travelling to Flemington from Southern Cross Station.
