THE 2017 Victorian Par Three Championship was a great success yet again, with the state’s top golfers travelling from far and wide to attend the event at Kyabram Parkland Golf Club.

Almost 100 women from 32 clubs across Victoria attended the women’s event last Wednesday and Thursday, while 80 men from over 30 clubs vied for the winning spot at Saturday and Sunday’s men’s event.

Kilmore’s Jessica Pickwick was crowned champion for the women’s event, claiming her fourth title on Thursday, while Jo Flaherty and Casey Wild followed close behind in second and third place respectively.

National Champion Cameron John and National Amateur Champion Matias Sanchez didn’t disappoint over the two-day, 54-hole men’s event.

The dual between the national champions had a nail-biting finish, with Sanchez finishing just two shots behind John, who was crowned the 2017 Par Three men’s champion.

A strong local contingent turned out impressive results over the weekend, with Kyabram’s Cooper Gentle winning the B grade gross and Kathy Bell and Lana McInnes featuring in the top 15 of the gross results out of the 98 players.

Golf Victoria commended Kyabram Parkland Golf Club on presenting the course in the best condition of the tournament’s history.
