Police have confirmed that the 65 year-old woman and 66 year-old man killed in a crash at Wanganella on Thursday were local residents, Linton and Lynette Gleeson.
The pair were travelling north on the Cobb Hwy in NSW when their ute and caravan was involved in an incident with an oncoming B-double.
Deniliquin Police Detective Sergeant Mile Rogers said that while investigations are ongoing, it appears the ute may have veered into the path of the B-double carrying cattle as it tried to overtake.
The truck was being driven by a 27-year-old Victorian man who is believed to have sustained minor injuries.
Linton Gleeson was a keen fisherman and spent most of his leisure time out on the water with children and then grandchildren.
He was a member of Nagambie Bowling Club.
