If you’re looking for a night of laughter with a serving of hypnosis thrown in, then a special night fundraising for the debilitating condition cystic fibrosis has you covered.
Comedy hypnotist Damien Mindmaster will be returning to Cobram Barooga on Friday night for the fundraiser.
Local parents Jamie and Rebecca Nye will also be speaking about their experiences with cystic fibrosis after their son Mack was diagnosed with the incurable condition.
The night is a fundraiser for the Great Escape team as part of Cystic Fibrosis Australia, and is also hoping to continue to raise awareness of the condition and how it affects the lives of so many Australians, particularly children.
A similar night was held last year, and in total the Great Escape team raised $300902 towards research into cystic fibrosis.
Locals Chriss and Grant Willis, along with Great Escape teammates Craig and Colleen Willis and Helen and Mike Collins from the Leeton/Riverina region, are organising the night and are encouraging everyone to come along for a great cause.
‘‘We got involved through family, this is our second year in the rally, although our family has been involved for about 16 years,’’ Chriss said.
‘‘They had a spare car and asked us if we wanted to get involved, and we had a great time.’’
They also returned with three trophies, including a first place for the Class A car section.
‘‘This is our major local fundraiser, and we would love to see as many people as possible supporting it,’’ Chriss said.
‘‘They’re trying to find a cure for cystic fibrosis and this is a great way to support people who have it.
‘‘For someone who has CF, their life expectancy has gone up to 32, but it used to be much lower.’’
Chriss said if people wanted to get involved with fundraising, they also had raffle tickets available with many prizes donated by local businesses, which she would be selling today (Wednesday) at Woolworths and tomorrow (Thursday) at IGA.
