Classical treat at church

June 16, 2017

Sharon and Slava Grigoryan will be performing at St Paul's Lutheran Church.

Classical musicians Slava and Sharon Grigoryan are set to deliver a breathtaking performance at Shepparton’s St Paul’s Lutheran Church.

The husband and wife are regarded as two of Australia’s finest classical musicians and their concert will include works by Vivaldi, Granados, Piazzolla and more.

Mr Grigoryan is known as an accomplished guitarist, while Mrs Grigoryan plays the cello and is a member of the Australian String Quartet.

Mr Grigoryan said he was looking forward to the concert in Shepparton and it would be the first time he and his wife had performed here together.

‘‘We don’t get to play concerts very much together at all,’’ he said.

Mr Grigoryan and his brother Leonard are known to tour regional areas a great deal and enjoy the experience immensely.

‘‘Being small towns you get to know members of the audience,’’ he said.

‘‘I think it’s important to take music everywhere.

‘‘But for regional areas they’re even more important because we know there’s less connection with artists.’’

Mr Grigoryan said Shepparton was the last leg of their tour and they were excited to perform at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, where they suspected the acoustics would be amazing.

‘‘If (people) appreciate guitar music or cello music, this is a good opportunity to hear some beautiful music played on these instruments,’’ he said.

Slava and Sharon Grigoryan will perform on Friday, June 23, at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 54 Poplar Ave, Shepparton at 7.30pm.

Tickets are $40 or $35 for concession card holders and can be purchased at www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=283562

Tickets include supper.
