The Allegro Theatre Company’s production of Stuart Little is getting the final touches added with a lick of paint here, a swoosh of a mouse’s tail there.
Director Lorraine Monshing OAM said this endearing stage adaption had all the charm and joy of EB White’s original film.
“A most unusual mouse who happens to be born into an ordinary New York family, Stuart struggles to survive in his super-sized world of humans,” Lorraine said.
“There are many new young faces in this production and it will be a treat to watch for young and old alike.
“The main character of Stuart Little is played by Laura Connelly (11) in her first role with Allegro and she is an absolute delight, a very switched on young lady.
“She has a huge workload and is just about in every scene.”
Stuart’s brother George is played by Caden Miller, who was last seen in Allegro’s production of Fame The Musical; Caden received a Georgy Encouragement Award for his performance.
“Caden is doing extremely well in this major role and works beautifully alongside Laura,” Lorraine said.
“Old hands Julie Denny and Adrian Ridley are playing Mr and Mrs Little and there are a myriad of minor roles which add to the comedy.
“This production is definitely aimed at a younger audience but grownups will love it as well.
“Final rehearsals are going extremely well and we all can’t wait for our opening performance.”
Stuart Little will open at the Yarrawonga Town Hall on Saturday, June 17 for a matinee performance beginning at 2pm.
There will be further matinees on Sunday, June 18, Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 with an evening performance on Friday, June 23 which will begin at 7.30pm.
