Deniliquin Rodeo Club will host a National Barrel Horse Association Riverina ‘come and try’ day at the local arena on Sunday.
The day is a non points event and will kick-off at 10.30am with free entry.
A full canteen will be available with guests asked to bring their own chair.
Deniliquin Rodeo committee member Elise Huddle says the event will be a great way to get new riders involved.
‘‘Barrel racing is kind of new to Deni as there aren’t really any events that are close to the area,’’ she said.
‘‘We want to give local people another avenue to barrel racing and give horse riders more events to participate in.
‘‘It’s open to all levels of riders so I encourage everyone to head down and give it a try.’’
There will be a range of competitions for riders — exhibitions, open divisions, junior divisions, open poles, junior poles and peewee barrels and poles.
In the junior and open divisions the riders will be separated into three separate time divisions after their initial run before competing against other riders in their division.
An NBHA day membership will be available on the day for $10 per competitor.
NBHA nominations of events can be completed online or on the day of the event from 8am till 10am.
