Students admire some of their tasty food items.

Graduate teacher Melissa Brown, acting school principal Angelique Bruce and retired principal Leonie Orr at the big afternoon tea.

School students, parents and staff of Savernake Public School put on a spectacular afternoon tea on Friday, June 30.

‘’It’s the culmination of what children have done over the last two terms, putting on an afternoon tea for families of students and anyone else interested in attending,” the school’s relieving principal Angelique Bruce told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.
A wide variety of food was dished up, including mixed berry jam, lemon curd, carrot cake and sausage rolls.
“Cooking started yesterday. Students selected the menu and each child selected an item of food to make,” Mrs Bruce said. “Some parents brought some food too and it was terrific.
‘’I was very pleased with the efforts and results of students. They are getting better at attention to detail and reading recipes. I’m also pleased with the academic side of all students.”
Everyone welcomed back immediate past principal Leonie Orr who officially ceased duty on the day after a 34 year career which began in 1977.
‘’It was beautiful to welcome Leonie back, on her final day officially as principal,” Mrs Bruce said. And Mrs Orr loved being back amongst students, parents and staff, tasting plenty of the delicious results of her former students.
