Berrigan Public School student Mia Cameron and St Columba’s School student Franchesca Urrutia were the standouts at the Berrigan Lions Junior Public Speaking competition held recently.
Mia won the year 3/4 competition, and was closely followed by runner-up Charlton Baxter.
Franchesca took out the year 5/6 category, while Tegan Dart was runner-up.
The year 3/4 participants had to prepare a speech on how they would rewrite a popular fairytale.
For students in years five and six, they prepared a speech on which kind of book they would write for their age group and what it would be about.
The competition was hosted by Berrigan Lions Club, and the district finals will be held early next month in Berrigan.
