Hogan claims Cup after four-way count

July 14, 2017

A four-way countback was needed to determine the winner of the popular Borella Cup on Saturday.

In the end Simon Hogan took the prized trophy, which comes with a pewter of your favorite beverage, paid for by a member you select, on any competition day for three months.

His 41 points also won A grade, on countback from Angus McMillan.

Also scoring 41 points was B grade winner and runner-up, Greg Collins and Dan Wade, with C grade taken out by Peter O’Brien with 36 points on countback from Gayle Beckton.

On Wednesday Ian Fuller scored 40 points to win A grade, a shot clear from Wayne Hodgson, and in B grade Rob Cameron stayed on the back foot and scored the day’s best total of 41 points, two clear of John Metcalfe.

On Thursday, July 6, the ladies held their stroke monthly medal event which was won by Patricia Aitken with a score of nett 69, with Sue Butcher runner-up on 74 nett.

Tomorrow is singles versus par, and Sunday is a Mixed Fourball Best Ball versus Par and qualifying round for the Western Riverina Championships, with top four teams to qualify. A time sheet is in the Pro Shop, and it will be 11.30am for a 12 noon shotgun start.

In the clubhouse, if you don’t have tickets or a table for the Christmas In July celebration on August 4, see June and get this organised. It will be a fun night out.

The Joker’s Wild jackpot is creeping up again, and is not far shy of $4,000 which would be a wonderful Christmas in July present. All you need is a ticket in the meat raffle, and be at the club at 8pm on Friday night. Raffle tickets are on sale from 6pm.

Again, it’s a fun night out and the Friday night revenue raised at the club is an important part of keeping us viable and keeping membership fees down.
