SPLINTER Contemporary Artists are back at the Kyabram Town Hall with a new exhibition.
Transcending Text is a group display that explores the separation and links between written and visual art.
Works will reflect the interplay between the art of language and the art of visualization.
Mooroopna based ceramic artist Kaye Poulton said there is often a cross pollination between written and visual art.
“Books and poetry are placed in one area, paintings and sculpture in another and it’s this cross pollination that we have explored and actively engaged with,” she said.
Kialla based painter Beverley Dowd said a particularly emotive or profound piece of poetry or story, song lyric, motto or quotation can conjure up a visual image.
“Conversely, an artist may be inspired to write poetry or prose in a personal response to a particularly affecting work of visual art,” she said.
The exhibition is open until November 6 at the Kyabram Town Hall gallery and can be viewed Monday to Saturday from 10am-4pm.
