Seymour racecourse is ready to host a race meeting again, with action to return on August 19.
After a three-month break, owing to the past two meetings being transferred to alternate venues, the additional consolidation time afforded to the track has proven beneficial after having undergone a $6million track upgrade in 2015-16.
The surface is in good order for Seymour’s first meeting since May 23, with an additional 14 meetings to be held at the track during the 2017-18 racing season.
‘‘The track has improved and will continue to do so with time,’’ Seymour Racing Club track manager Brett Thompson said.
The club, staff and committee have worked tirelessly to improve course facilities, complete further renovations and enhancements including a refurbished 70m equine pool, a new training track, and have installed updated grandstand seating, originally from the stands of the MCG.
Following the August 19 meeting, the next meeting at Seymour will be on September 7 before Sunday meetings on October 8 and 22, which is headlined by the running of the $150000 Listed Godolphin Seymour Cup (1600m).
There will be something for the entire family at next week’s meeting, including a jumping castle for children. Gates will open at 11am.
