Successful Open Tournament

Yarrawonga Mulwala Table Tennis Association held its Junior Open and Senior Open Tournament last weekend with players travelling from all over Victoria as well as a few from NSW and ACT.
The weekend started off with their senior event first with some very close and intense matches being played throughout the day.
Local winners for the day were:
John Wright- Local singles winner.  Local doubles winner with Murray Heather, 030 doubles winner and open men’s doubles runner up.
Jason Cox; Division 5 Winner. Daniel Herrod Division 6 Winner. Jack Bassett Division 4 runner up. James Banks- Division 6 runner up.
Andrew Lindner; Local doubles runner up.
Amber Gower; Women’s doubles winner, Division 5 runner up, U21 doubles runner up, mixed open doubles runner up.
All local players on the day played very well and did the club proud.
Sunday kicked off nice and early with the junior event with juniors competing for state points in hope of gaining enough points to make the national teams for next year.
The standard of players whom travelled up for the tournament was very high. All the locals that competed once again did the club proud.  All matches played on the day were great to watch with some nail biting, extremely close matches being played. All players showed great sportsmanship with local winners being;
Amber Gower; U21 girls winner, Division 5 winner, Local doubles winner, junior singles runner up.
Andrew Lindne; Local singles winner.
Daniel Herrod; Division 6 Runner up, Local doubles runner up with Isaac Andrews.
Hayley Bennet; Local Doubles winner, First timer singles runner up.
James Banks; Local first timer singles winner. Tess Bassett- U11 doubles runner up.
The club raffle was also drawn on Sunday with Joan Heibach winning first prize and second price.  Thank you to everyone that purchased or sold tickets.

Thank you also to Kameron Chan who was the official referee for the weekend. The club also thanked all the people that helped out over the weekend and during the week setting everything up. Without their help the tournament would not have been possible.
