Entries to the Mick and Elaine Chaplin bowls tournament, to be held on Sunday, August 20, are being received up until Saturday, August 19.

At this point, three greens will be used with more entries expected.

This day is promoted in recognition of the contribution they have made to promote bowls in the this area for many years as coaches, umpires, administrators as well as players.

Both are life members of the Murray Bowls Division and the Finley Bowling Club, so this day is richly deserved to acknowledge their involvement with bowls.

Entries to Heather Tabe or Ray Koschel or to the club.

Those who are not playing are invited to attend afternoon tea.

To allow for catering please register your intention to attend to Heather, Ray or ring the club.

Total prize money allocated for this event is $1000 with an entry fee of $15 per person.

K&C will be in attendance with new bowls clothing from 9am until lunch time.

This is a fantastic opportunity to renew any bowling requirements.

The sixth round of the accumulator was postponed due to inclement weather.

The positions of the leaders, after round five may now change as only the best five scores will count for the final award.

This is a popular event for Sunday morning and all bowlers, and any visitors, are invited to participate in the event.

There was no bowling last Thursday due to weather conditions.

Many of our bowlers are participating in the 2-4-2 event held at the RS Club on Tuesday.

The greens were excellent and provided for good draw bowling and this was appreciated by all bowlers.

Last week Marie and Ray Koschel were winners on the day.

It would appear they are honing their skills for the coming ‘Bowlers Arm Tussle’ tournament at the RS Club on August 27.

Tremendous support was given to the fundraising evening last Friday when $1426 was raised to assist Luke Bramley with his trip on the Combined Football Memorial tour to play football in Ireland, England and France.

The Ladies lounge has now been converted into a children’s play room. This will officially open next Friday.

On Friday, August 25, a fundraising evening will be held to benefit Finley Playgroup and Berriquin Toy Library.

A call is made for the community to support this event.

Meals are available from 6pm. Ring the club to reserve a table.

All members should note that there are a thousand reasons to be present at the club on Friday night to win the members draw of $1000.

Meals are available from 6pm. Call the club and reserve a table.

Social bowls will be held on Thursday, commencing at 1pm.

Roster duty for raffles: Sheila Walsh and Ray Wood.

Last week’s 2-4-2 winners were Ray and Marie Koschel, who were the only three game winners.

Runners-up were Ian and Mary Smedhurst from Barooga. The jackpot once again did not go off.

The 2-4-2 competition will finish at the end of August so get in for a practice before opening season.

Something new is happening for RSC opening day on Sunday with the match committee deciding to incorporate the mixed pairs with this day.

Get yourself a partner and play mixed pairs or just put your name down for opening day.

As this is short notice please check the board for details.
