Navorina Nursing Home’s residents were swept up in the glitz and glamour of the Deniliquin Debutante Ball over the last two weeks.

With the 27 debs and their partners having their professional photos taken in the nursing home’s gardens over the last two Saturdays, they also stopped in to meet and speak with some of the residents.

Couples over both weekends visited bed-bound residents and enthused at talking about their dresses with the ladies.

Navorina lifestyle coordinator Bernadette Werner said some of the young men also took female residents for a spin around the floor.

Mrs Werner said residents enjoyed the experience so much, they are still buzzing about it.

‘‘It was pleasing to see the young mixing with the old,’’ she said.

‘‘The ladies just loved looking at all the dresses, with one of our residents telling us she used to make them.

‘‘They absolutely loved the experience.’’

The debs and their partners have been training with local ball coordinator Vicki Ackers for the last seven to eight weeks.

They learned two waltzes, the Cha Cha Cha, a three step and a jive.

The couples were formally presented to a room filled with friends and family.

Both balls were held at the Deniliquin RSL Club.
