Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with a connection to our region can now enter for this year’s Dungala-Kaiela Writing awards.
The awards provide an opportunity for writing and self-expression.
Entries close on August 31.
There are three categories in the Dungala-Kaiela Writing Awards:
●The story/yarn/article/play category has four sections — junior (8-12 years of age); youth (13-18 years), open (19-64 years); and elders (65 years and above).
●The poem/lyric/rap category has four sections — junior, youth, open and elder.
●There is also a category for Aboriginal languages in any written form, in three sections — junior, youth and open (19 years and above). Some Aboriginal language words must be used, however the whole entry does not have to bein Aboriginal language. Translation is requested for all language entries.
