A KYABRAM woman who blew more than three times the legal limit has been disqualified from driving for the next 16 months.
Susan Giovanola appeared in Echuca Magistrates Court on July 4 to plead guilty to drink driving.
Police Prosecutor Senior Constable Sally Mannell said Giovanola was observed driving in Benalla on April 4.
“At around 7.47pm the accused was pulled over for a preliminary breath test where alcohol registered,” she said.
“She was taken back to the Benalla Police Station where a blood alcohol reading of .162 was recorded.”
Giovanola’s car was impounded and she told the court she had “made a mistake”.
“I had a drink which was 3.2 standard drinks in one drink before I drove,” she said.
Magistrate Bruce Cottrill said there is a huge price to pay for drink driving.
“The effect on women’s metabolism is far greater than men,” he said.
She was convicted and fined $850.
