Time for Bald Archy

by
August 11, 2017

Former Ensign editor Libby Price will open this year’s Bald Archy Exhibition.

Tickets for the event, which supports Benalla’s Tomorrow Today Foundation, are $30 and include entry to the exhibition, finger food and drinks.

Among the more than 40 works on display is Judy Nadin’s Queen of Smarts featuring Australian actress, comedian and writer Magda Szubanski.

The Bald Archy program is now in its 24th year and provides artists of all styles and standards with a genuine opportunity to showcase their work.

The exhibition showcases comic or satirical portraits, preferably of an Australian public figure distinguished in art, science, politics, sport or the media.

Over the years many public figures have found themselves the subject of a Bald Archy exhibit, including Kerry Packer, Amanda Vanstone, Shane Warne, Dame Edna Everage, Tony Abbott and Ian Thorpe.

The exhibition will open on Friday, August 25, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at the Swanpool and District Memorial Hall.

It will then run from August 26 to September 10 and is supporting Tomorrow Today for the third time.

Tomorrow Today’s focus is community philanthropy. It works with individuals and organisations across business, government and community to create and sustain vibrant projects.
