Politics in a pub? Why not.

More than 40 residents gathered at Nagambie’s Royal Mail Hotel on Thursday to meet with two politicians from The Nationals party.

Federal Member for Murray Damian Drum and Deputy Leader of the Victorian Nationals and Member for Euroa Steph Ryan talked informally while sharing a drink and snacks with those who went along.

Publican Paul Golding welcomed everyone to the gathering and thanked Frances Deane for arranging the get-together with the two members.

Mr Drum spoke about subjects that have been topical in the life of a federal member over the past few weeks, such as the price and shortage of gas, Asian long-term contracts and state policies.

Other topics briefly included water policies concerning the Murray-Darling Basin and the effects on the Goulburn Valley and irrigation; same-sex marriage; dual citizenship; and state politics, especially concerning the exorbitant prices of gas.

Question and answer time followed the short talk by Mr Drum and he and Ms Ryan encouraged the attendees to speak to them about further concerns.
