A catwalk filled with up-cycled fashion delights will be the highlight at this weekend’s Tatura All Saints Anglican Church fundraiser event.
Fashions Made From Trash will be held this Saturday and people are encouraged to make their own creations ahead of the event.
Organiser Glenda McLeod said there would be a range of items on show, including clothing, jewellery, accessories and homewares, with creative seamstresses strutting their designs on the catwalk.
Ms McLeod said people had been encouraged to create the items in the lead-up to the event.
She said an environmental program she took part in with Lions Victoria a few years go prompted her to come up with the idea.
‘‘I did some of this sort of stuff and it had been on my mind for years to do an event like this,’’ she said.
Ms McLeod said the event would work as a general fundraiser for the church, with money raised going towards whatever was needed.
‘‘It’s all about seeing what you can do with your rubbish,’’ she said.
The event will be held at All Saints Anglican Church in Francis St, Tatura this Saturday, September 16, from 7.30pm. The cost is $10 at the door and the parade will be followed by a light supper. For more information phone Glenda McLeod on 58241398 or 0411298113.
