The ongoing contributions of retired police officers were celebrated at the Deniliquin Police Station on Thursday.

The annual event saw about 20 people — including four local retired police officers — enjoy a morning tea hosted by Deniliquin Police Local Area Command Superintendent Paul Condon.

Special guests included retired Senior Constable David Blanely, retired Snr Const Nadine Campton, retired Sergeant Glen Waterfall and retired Sgt Geoff Elliott.

Supt Condon said the event was valuable because it honoured the sacrifice and legacy of our retired officers.

‘‘The NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller delivered a welcome message to the officers and there was also a slideshow of the construction works taking place at the police station,’’ he said.

‘‘Following the presentation, the officers were given a personal walk-through tour of the station by construction staff.

‘‘They were all impressed with its size.’’

The local Retired Police Day celebrations were first held at the Deniliquin station in 2012.
