Councillor Scott Upston will take on the role of Acting Mayor of Benalla Rural City Council while Mayor Don Firth is on leave.
Cr Upston will take on the role from September 29 to October 16 in accordance with the Local Government Act 1989.
The Act states that if there is a vacancy in the office of mayor, or if the Mayor is absent, the council must appoint a councillor to take on his duties.
The acting mayor may perform any function or exercise any power conferred on the mayor.
