A photo-finish defeat at Berrigan had a happy sequel when Frozen Asset won at Wodonga on Monday.

The Albury mare went down by a nose to Sidonia Miss in the Berrigan Benchmark 55, allowing her to contest the Wodonga Maiden Plate (2050m).

Frozen Asset ($5.50) ridden by Cameron Quilty defeated Joseph by a length with Ca Plane third.

Trainer Martin Stein described the winner as a good gutsy mare whose record now stands at 14 starts, one win, one second and three third.

‘‘We were beaten in a $3000 race at Berrigan and now we were able to win a $22,000 race,’’ the happy trainer said.

The Maiden Three Year-Old (1100m) produced a close finish with the Ciaron Maher trained first starter Stylish Missile ($3.40) ridden by Linda Meech running down Living Doll ($3 fav) to score by a short half head.

Darren Weir produced third placed Captain Harry and The Gatting Ball (fourth).

Well named The Gatting Ball (Hard Spun-Art Of Deception) was having his first start and finished the race off quite well.

Trainer Brent Stanley and jockeys Jamie Mott and Michael Walker landed winning doubles.

Stanley and Walker joined forces to win with two favourites, Mission Vision and Rock Of Mahal.

Mission Vision survived a protest from Best Man ridden by Mott in the Maiden (1590m).

Wagga Gold Cup winner Stampede is set to build on an already impressive record following a first-up win at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Stampede was backed from $6 to start $4.20 favourite in the Craig Opie Cup (1600m) and his supporters had no cause for concern at any stage.

‘‘A very classy horse,’’ jockey Beau Mertens said after his mount strolled in by 2 lengths.

Stampede won at Wagga in May defeating Life Less Ordinary and was spelled after winning Doomben Group 3 (2000m).

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott train the High Chaparral five year-old whose 10 starts have yielded six wins, three seconds and a fourth.

Bonneval was another impressive Moonee Valley winner and clearly top selection for the Caulfield Cup at this stage.

Follow - Hartnell: Placed in Cox Plate an Melbourne Cup last spring and returned with Caulfield win over 1400m.

Coming winners: Booker was having only her third start when she resumed with second to unbeaten colt Merchant Navy at Caulfield.

Merovee, a colt by Frankel, hit the line strongly for Randwick second.

Foundation, an imported stayer, can improve close-up eighth at Moonee Valley.
