A group of prominent local businessmen have banded together to oppose Moira Shire Council’s proposed sale of Cobram Caravan Park.
The group is calling on the community to lodge formal submissions to the council as to why the sale should not go ahead. Applications close May 9.
Group spokesperson Leon West said an online submission template was available on the council’s website.
Mr West said the group wanted members of the community to help prevent the sale because the central block of land was important to the community’s future.
‘‘Once it’s gone there is no coming back,’’ Mr West said.
‘‘It is crucial for Cobram’s development moving forward.’’
With enough submissions, council will meet on May 30 at Cobram Civic Centre to hear people wishing to speak in support of their submissions.
