Ian ‘A’ champion

Ian Armer is the Finley Golf Club Men’s A grade champion, following the completion of rounds three and four over the weekend.

Armer finished up the final round with a total of 311 shots to claim his second title win, having previously won in 2016.

Paul Pinnuck finished as B grade champion on 328, with C grade champion Leo McNamara scoring 370 and D grade winner Bob Makkinga finishing on 397.

The championship weekend was kicked off on Saturday, with leaders at the end of the day being Armer on 237, Pinnuck with 240 in B grade, McNamara on 275 in C grade and Makkinga on 290 in D grade.

The Ray Healey Stroke event was also played on Saturday with an eagle three on the 444m par-5 10th by Darren John the highlight of the day.

This no doubt assisted John’s 74 net win in the A grade division.

Paul Pinnuck with 72 net took B grade, Kevin Tengstrom with 69 net claimed C grade and the Cock of the Walk title, and Bob Makkinga with 71 net made it three wins in a row in D grade.

Kim McCaw’s 69 net gave her the ladies trophy with Jenni Corcoran taking the ladies putting with 29.

NTP on the 18th was Alan Hand.

Balls went to Dave Cordell (70), Alan Hand (72), Grant Wilson (74), Matt Daniel (74), Rick Harris (74) and Beth White (75). Jason Pyle claimed the NAGA Trophy.

On Sunday the K&A Foods Stroke event saw the fourth and final round of the championship completed.

The daily competition saw Ian Armer (70) take out A grade as well as the Cock of the Walk title.

Sel Corcoran (71) took B grade, Merv Percy (72) took C Grade and Bill Judd (72) claimed D grade.

NTP on the 18th was Rick Harris.

The ladies played stableford and it was Sue Simpson on 31 points who took the ladies trophy.

Balls went to Matt Daniel (74), Marty Piggin (74), Grant Wilson (75), Rick Harris (75), Alan Hand (75) and Janet Delmenico with 29 stableford points.

It was a family affair when Jack and Maree Doyle each claimed a NAGA Trophy.

Leo McNamara, who carded 36 stableford points and survived a countback, collected the Macca’s vouchers for the Men’s Competition on Wednesday.

In B grade Justin Crowley with 45 points was the winner.

NTP on the 18th was Chick Braybon.

Balls went to Merv Percy (38), Matt Daniel (36) and Colin McNamara (36). Martin Cruickshank collected the Matt Daniel Plumbing NAGA trophy.

In the Thursday afternoon nine hole competition, Martin Cruickshank showed a complete reversal of form with 30.5 net to claim the voucher. Balls went to John Taylor (36) and Naldo Casanova (36).

At the weekend Stroke will be played on Saturday and Stableford on Sunday.

The Medley 4BBB Stableford saw 104 players taking part last Wednesday, with Derek McMahon and Bob Burns the winning pair with 50 points.

They were followed by Ronald Loversidge and Richie Kliska on 49 and third place went to Desmond Kucks and Lindsay Jones 46.

NTPs went to Peter Cunningham 2nd, Alan Good 8th, Andrew Love eagle’s nest 5th.

Friday was the Tocumwal Challenge Bowl with 66 players taking part that saw Susan Pappas taking the Division One win with 32 points.

Division Two was won by Glenda Campbell (Deniliquin GC) 36 pts and Lynn Soutter (Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club) took Division Three with 36 points.

NTPs went to Janet Lord (Deniliquin GC) 2nd, Zoe Courtney (Mooroopna GC) 8th, Janine Foot (Yarrawonga Mulwala GC) 14th and Susan Cohen (Deniliquin GC) 18th.

A field of 43 ladies and 68 men played stableford on Saturday.

Lynne Parry took out the ladies Division One with 34 points followed by Susan Hawe with 33.

Division Two was won by Val Watmore who had 34 and runner-up went to Joan Burns 32.

NTPs went to Jo Boak 17th, Rhonda Constable 18th.

Men’s Division One winner was Graeme Filippe with 36 points on countback from Raymond Thomas (Churchill-Waverly GC).

Division Two went to Jeffrey Conrad on 38 followed by Bruce Enbom 35, while Shane Scott (Commercial Resort) was the Division Three winner with 38 in front of Steven Bradbury on 34.

NTPs went to Jim Williams 17th, Darren Mitchell 18th.

Sunday saw 11 ladies and 78 men playing par with Pamela Richardson taking the win with 3-up.

NTP went to Jo Boak 18th.

Men’s Division One was won by Phil Nunn with 5-up followed by Geoffrey Quick with 3-up.

Division Two went to Albert Adams on countback from Shane Foots with both golfers finishing square.

Alan Good took out Division Three with 3-up on countback from Shane Scott.

NTPs went to Peter Quirk 2nd, Phil Nunn 2nd.

Men’s Gold winner was Ronald Eaton on 3-up.
