Berrigan’s Lyndall Horne has been formally recognised on the 2017 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll.
The Honour Roll celebrates the valuable volunteer roles and the outstanding contribution made to local communities.
Mrs Horne was inducted to the roll in November, and officially received recognition of the honour from NSW Member for Murray Austin Evans last week.
Mrs Horne, who is known for her roles as Berrigan Red Cross treasurer and Berrigan Show secretary, said she was overwhelmed to receive the award.
‘‘It was a complete surprise,’’ she said.
‘‘Volunteering is the lifeblood of any community and especially Berrigan. Everything flows from it and is nourished by it.’’
Mr Evans said it was a pleasure to formally congratulate Mrs Horne, who he said provides an ‘‘enormous amount of support to our local community’’.
‘‘Mrs Horne was nominated by others in the community who have seen first-hand the impact she makes on the lives of people around her,’’ he said.
‘‘She thoroughly deserves this recognition and should be extremely proud of the nomination and in joining this prestigious list of highly regarded rural women.’’
Mrs Horne was one of seven women from the Murray electorate to be recognised on the 2017 Honour Roll, and 103 across the state.
