COURTS Services Victoria believes the $4.85 million injection into Echuca’s court will deliver ‘‘modern, fit-for-purpose facilities’’.
CSV director, assets planning and management — strategy, planning and major projects — Michael Carroll said the funding was allocated under the state budget.
‘‘Current court facilities at Echuca are co-located with the Campaspe Shire Council,’’ he said.
‘‘This funding will enable complete separation of court and shire operations to ensure required safety and security standards are achieved, and issues that have generated concerns in the community can be addressed.’’
Mr Carroll said the upgrade would include fully separating building infrastructure of the court and shire offices, including entrances for shire staff and visitors.
He said it would also include safety and security improvements for court users, including separate waiting areas, increased interview room capacity, enhanced conferencing and hearing facilities, and improvements to the entryway to the court for people in custody.
‘‘Court Services Victoria will continue to work closely with the Campaspe Shire in planning and delivering the project over the coming two years,’’ Mr Carroll said.
