Senior players Harry Wheeler and Ben Clifton have recommitted to the Seymour Lions for the 2018 season, in some welcome news for the football club.

Ben Clifton, a 2007 U/18 premiership player who took off for a little while and played 110 VFL games for Coburg, has brought a wealth of class to the side’s midfield since his return.

Harry Wheeler, a key inside midfield, was the winner of the Lions’ best and fairest award in 2017.

Seymour Football Netball Club president Craig Velte said he was rapt with the pair’s commitment to the team.

‘‘They’re both first class players who made interleague teams last year,’’ he said.

‘‘Cliffo has got 110 VFL matches under his belt, and Wheels just won the Eamonn O’Connor award for the third or fourth time this year, as well as the best and fairest.’’

The Lions’ seniors’ preseason training kicked off last night.
