IT’s liftoff time for the Echuca Moama Rockets.

Our local all-abilities club is ready for its 2018 season.

The club is currently in Wodonga for it’s first round of the season.

Club president Phillip Evans says there is a lot of excitement around the club heading into the season.

‘‘We’re all very excited with how the club is coming long this year,’’ he said.

‘‘Our numbers in both senior football and in Auskick are really good, a lot of people are getting involved with us.

‘‘And that’s what we want — to be as inclusive as we can be and to have as many people at the club as we can.’’

The club have spent the week in preparation for the start of their season, and have had a bit of help on the way.

Wednesday night saw the players train with members of the Echuca Murray Bombers.

‘‘It’s a wonderful opportunity for everyone,’’ Evans said.

‘‘It’s really good for the players on both sides.

‘‘For our players they get a group of senior players around them who have really good skills and can help them to learn a bit more about their game.

‘‘And the Murray Bombers can learn something from our guns as well.’’

Many of the members of the Rockets are involved in other clubs around the community, and Evans thinks its important for the towns relationship with the club to grow.

‘‘It’s possible that a lot of those within the community don’t really know our club all that well,’’ he said.

‘‘Our club has members connected with our sports clubs, but also who are all through the area in different community groups.

‘‘It’s a wonderful thing to be involved in, and we hope the community will continue to grow their relationship with the club.’’
