SANTA is taking time out of his busy schedule this year for Kyabram’s annual Santa’s Cave.
Naughty and nice children are invited in to witness the tireless work of Santa’s elves and have a photo with Father Christmas before he heads off on his round-the-globe trip.
Being Santa’s busiest time of the year, Kyabram Town Hall volunteer Vanessa Cross said they’d made sure the event wouldn’t affect any Christmas Eve gift deliveries.
“Unfortunately there is only the one Santa in the world and so there may be a bit of a wait to get in and see him,” she said.
“But we have things to keep everyone entertained and drinks to keep people cool while they wait — it’s first in best dressed of course.
“There’s so much for the kids to do. They can meet Santa, win prizes and get lollies while walking through the cave.”
Businesses from around the community have donated prizes for the raffle as well as lollies for the kids.
And for any children who want to show off their colouring skills there’s a take-home colouring competition to be won.
Ms Cross said volunteers have already started working to get the cave ready for the coming weeks.
“Scott Collins offers so much help with the event; he’s been able to store a lot of things away for us and make sure the cave looks its best,” she said.
“However we’re always looking for more volunteers from around the community because a lot of our previous elves have grown up and have other jobs now.
“If there’s anyone out there who thinks they can help us, if you’re over 18 all you need is a working with children’s check and be ready to work.”
Santa’s cave is open from Saturday, December 16 to 23, 11am-5pm.
