A TRUCK carrying pizza sauce from Echuca rolled on McEwen Rd on Monday.
Emergency services were called to the incident at around 12.15pm after the truck came to rest on its side at the intersection of McEwen and Graham roads.
The driver, a 49-year-old male from Shepparton, was taken to Kyabram hospital to be treated for shock.
Police, ambulance, VicRoads and transport agencies attended the scene, with the clean-up taking eight hours.
Campaspe Highway Patrol sergeant Paul Nicoll said the cause of the accident is under investigation. “We understand the driver was heading interstate from Kagome in Echuca but was stopping by the Kyabram office to collect paperwork,” he said.
Kyabram CFA captain Mick Crompton said there was no real danger at any point during the clean-up.
“It was a long drawn out process, our initial response was to wash the diesel away however there was a significant amount coming from the truck itself,” he said.
“Thankfully one of our guys works in the transport industry and knew how to isolate the tanks from draining into each other. We improvised and used gloves and toilet paper to block up the hole.
“Once VicRoads had finished their clean-up, we cleaned up the pizza sauce. It was great to see all agencies working together.”
