HEATHCOTE and District Football League (HDFL) is set to benefit with the arrival of some top class footballers next season.
Mitch Bright, from Goulburn Valley league club Rochester, is joining Colbinabbin while another Rochester player in Jarod Bacon is heading to Lockington-Bamawm United.
Both players were members of the Tigers 2016 grand final side which lost the GVL season-decider to eventual premier and champion Kyabram.
While their inclusions in the Heathcote league is a boon for the district comp, it is the direct opposite result for the GVL, particularly Rochester.
‘‘Jarod is obviously from Lockington and his old man is the president there at the moment, so it’s just one of those things,’’ Rochester coach James Flaherty said.
‘‘Mitch was a disappointing one. He was vice-captain this year with Nathan Marrone and it was a bit of a shock..’’
It’s not all one-way traffic into the HDFL, though.
Heathcote and District Football League rising star winner Jackson McEwen has signed on with Rochester for 2018.
McEwen played a crucial hand in Leitchville-Gunbower’s drought-breaking flag in the HDFL this season and will be a big loss to the league.
