THE annual Christmas break-up of the Rushworth Prospecting Club was a golden opportunity for members and families to spend time in the Whroo bush.
Of the 40 people who attended, about 30 people camped out in their caravans, motorhomes or camper trailers.
For entertainment there was a decorated Christmas table competition and Kris Kringle to ensure fun for all.
Secretary John Crilly said while there wasn’t much gold to be found, it was a great chance to catch up with friends.
“We had quite a few people out with their detectors but there wasn’t a heap of gold found, it’s more about the camping experience,” he said.
“There aren’t many nuggets to be found now, you’re out there searching and there’ll be a lot however it isn’t much larger than a matchhead.’’
One of the club’s youngest gold seekers, Kayne Crompton from Kyabram, found gold.
However he’s learned the detecting game well, as he’s yet to divulge the location of his find.
