You know the festive season has arrived in Deniliquin when the giant Christmas tree pops up in the heart of the town.
Edward River Council staff installed and decorated the six-metre high tree on Tuesday.
Mayor Norm Brennan says the tree is a symbol of the community’s Christmas cheer and brings a festival feeling to the town centre.
‘‘The festive season offers a great opportunity to support our local businesses and encourage people to come into the town centre to do their Christmas shopping, whether they’re locals or visitors.
‘‘This time of year is really special in our community, and I encourage all residents to join council in celebrating the Christmas spirit at the Christmas Fair and Carols by Candlelight in the Waring Gardens this Sunday,’’ he said.
