Truck rolls at Blighty

January 09, 2018

The truck's cabin was partially crushed when it rolled.

A 47 year-old Yarrawonga man is believed to have suffered only minor injuries when the truck he was driving rolled on Woodbury Rd at Blighty on Thursday afternoon.

The driver is believed to have been travelling north about 3.30pm when the nasty crash occurred.

Police said they were unsure how the man lost control of the Kenworth, which was towing a fully loaded trailer.

Part of the trailer was detached from the truck and lying in the middle of the road. The truck’s dolly had twisted and was also partly covering the road, while the cabin was roof-down in the table drain.

It is believed the truck was starting to come to a stop when it rolled, partially crushing the driver’s cabin.

Deniliquin Ambulance NSW Inspector of service delivery southern sector Bruce Purves said paramedics reported the man had freed himself and was ‘‘walking around’’ when they arrived on the scene.

The ambulance was called about 4.50pm, with paramedics arriving 20 minutes later.

‘‘The driver appeared to have only minor injuries, but was transported to Deniliquin Hospital for further observation,’’ Insp Purves said.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
