An undermanned Benalla Saints women’s team recorded one of its best victories since its inception against Echuca on Sunday.
In wet and windy conditions, the Saints held off Echuca in a desperate last quarter to win by eight points.
The Saints made the most of kicking with the wind in the third quarter, leading at the last change by 15 points.
They then held off Echuca in the last quarter to win their fifth match of the season.
Co-coach Kylie Relf led her side brilliantly in defence, while midfielders Ally Reid, Jayde Burden and Ally Ballard were the key drivers.
Playing her first game for the Saints, Bridget Beatson was outstanding on the half bank flank, repelling many opposition attacks.
Defender, Nicole Donald played her best game for the Saints, taking a number of telling marks during a critical period of the match.
The Saints now have the bye before taking on Nathalia away.
