A woman has died following a head-on collision in Stewarton yesterday evening (9 January).
Investigators believe a Holden Commodore and Holden Captiva collided on the Midland Highway in Stewarton, near Benalla, just after 10.30pm.
The driver of the Commodore, a 39-year-old Craigieburn woman, died at the scene.
The driver of the Captiva, a 66-year-old Benalla man, will be flown to Melbourne with life threatening injuries.
Police will investigate the cause of the collision.
