AN ARREST warrant has been issued for a Kyabram man charged after a high-speed traffic incident in Echuca west on January 12.
Samuel McLoughlan, 39, failed to appear in Echuca Magistrates Court on charges of reckless conduct endangering serious injury, failing to stop on police direction, dangerous driving, exceeding speed and unlicensed driving, as well as outstanding traffic warrants.
McLoughlan is accused of driving at high speeds on the Mitiamo-Echuca Rd near Cantwell Rd about 8.15am.
Police say when they attempted to stop him, he allegedly drove off, driving at ‘‘reckless speeds’’ between 120-150km/h for about 1km before experiencing mechanical failure.
McLoughlan allegedly got out of the vehicle and ran across the paddock before being arrested.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Dave Rennie sought a warrant for McLoughlan’s arrest and a surety.
Magistrate John Murphy ordered the warrant and a $500 surety.
‘‘This chap needs to be arrested very quickly,’’ he said.
