Celebrations would have been ringing right into the night after a weekend of milestones for Nagambie.
Tyrone Muir celebrated his 200th senior game for the Lakers, while young gun Keenan Shephard racked up his 100th game for the side.
Coach Linc Sullivan praised both players for their loyalty to Nagambie in reaching the milestones.
‘‘It’s a good accolade for Tyrone, he’s played around 250 games for the club and 200 senior games,’’ Sullivan said.
‘‘It just goes to show the loyalty he’s shown to Nagambie over the journey and he’s been rewarded with two or three premierships for the club.
‘‘Keenan’s a good young player and if he sticks around he could easily be a 300 plus gamer for Nagambie.’’
The day was made all the more sweet for the Lakers with them coming out triumphant against Merrigum.
After just keeping up with Merrigum each quarter, the Lakers blasted away in the last to win 11.17 (83) to 9.12 (66).
Muir was one of Nagambie’s best in his milestone match, while Matt Waterson slotted four goals, taking his season tally to 28.
The forwards worked hard in the last quarter to keep the ball in their attacking end and capitalised on scoring opportunities.
The cold wintry conditions didn’t faze the Lakers, taking the weather in their stride.
‘‘We’re used to training at night when it can get down to three degrees so it wasn’t too bad,’’ Sullivan said.
At the halfway mark of the season the Lakers are sitting comfortably at fourth position on the senior ladder.
The Lakers are now set to make the trip this weekend to take on Murchison-Toolamba, who secured a five point win against Undera.
Nagambie will be hoping to continue their winning form moving into the run to the back end of the season and will welcome co-captain Jackson Hutton back from injury in the coming weeks.
The round 11 match will kick off at 2.05pm Saturday.
