Several people have been injured following a car crash at the intersection of the Hume Fwy and the Goulburn Valley Hwy this morning.
The incident occurred after one vehicle turned right from the stop sign towards Seymour and collided with another vehicle heading north towards Nagambie.
Senior Constable Clint Dawson said it was just a failure to give way from one of the drivers, and urged local drivers to take extra care around Hume Fwy and Goulburn Valley Fwy.
“This intersection is being used due to the south exit being closed for roadworks, so a lot more traffic is using it than normally would,” he said.
“VicRoads have put restricted speed signs in place but…it’s just a matter of stopping and giving way. You really need to be conscious that you’re pulling out into a 100 zone, which very soon starts into a 110 zone.
“A lot of cars pre-empt that and start their 110 journey when cars are pulling out in front of them. They underestimate the speed of the cars heading north—they think they can get past, but they don’t have enough time.
“So just be conscious of the fact there will be heavier flows of traffic turning right out of this intersection, because it will be used for the next four to six weeks.”
