CUTTING EDGE — Kyabram’s Ron Heier is hoping to raise $1100 in the World’s Greatest Shave. His daughter in London raised $11,000 last year.

KYABRAM’S Ron Heier is preparing to lose his luscious locks for a good cause.

Ron has been deeply involved with raising funds for the Leukaemia Foundation since his wife died from cancer 11 years ago.

“I have always donated every year since then, but this year as well as donating, I am collecting for the Leukaemia Foundation for the World’s Greatest Shave,” Ron said.

Ron said participating in the World’s Greatest Shave is something he never thought about until his hair began to grow.

“I just sort of let it grow and then the idea came to me, so since then it has been as simple as stopping getting my hair cut.

“I thought as my hair started to grow a bit longer it was a good opportunity for me to get involved in the Greatest Shave.”

Ron’s hair will be shaved at The Tatura Hotel on March 15 in honor of a Tatura-based friend who is going through a cancer battle.

“Just as little as around $50 can help get a family down to Melbourne or wherever and support their loved one going through this battle, so any money really does help,’’ Ron said.
