Australian Under 21 slalom champion and Bundalong local Tom Ryan (second from right) will aim to have success at Moodemere so he can compete at Moomba.

The excitement of extreme slalom water skiing returns to Lake Moodemere this weekend February 17 and 18.

Australia’s best water skiers will be competing for bragging rights leading into the World’s best water ski tournament the Moomba Masters which is held annually on the Yarra River in Melbourne
There is non-stop action from 8am on both Saturday and Sunday with slalom skiers from NSW, Victoria, Qld, WA and the ACT carving up the water creating spectacular
“water walls” as they chase each other in reaching the maximum buoy count.
Leading the charge will be current Australian Team member and Australian Slalom record holder, Nic Adams. Lake Moodemere is Nic’s “home water” and if he is not there, you will find him on the International Tournament circuit during the northern hemispheres summer.
Chasing down Nic will be local skier from Bundalong, Tom Ryan. Tom is the current Australian under 21 champion and spends the Australian winter coaching in the USA. Also in the “Open Division” will be Trent Nelson Cranfield representing the ACT and he is no stranger to giving the “gun guys” some hurry up.
It will be a hotly contested event as Melbourne under 17 skier, Jack Christies just set a new Australian under 17 slalom record at last weekend’s Tournament at the Max Kirwin Lakes in Mulwala. He is keen to continue to apply the pressure on the top skiers.
In the women’s division, the standout competitor is Bundalong skier Tara Ryan (yes, sister of Tom). Tara is a past Australian under 21 slalom champion and has moved up to the “open” division and just won the Mulwala 4 round on the weekend.
A total of 50 competitors will fight for Lake Moodemere Championship honours, which is a test of form leading into the State Titles, Moomba and the Australian Nationals which will be held over Easter in Goondiwindi Qld.
