Cobram and District’s youth girls’ side continues to gain momentum as it enters its inaugural season in the Shepparton and District Junior Football League’s youth girls’ competition.
Cobram Football Club president Peter Beasley said there had been healthy interest in the concept from players and their parents, but the team was still seeking a coach.
‘‘Our football club is keen to provide a platform for the girls in the area to enter what has become the fastest growing women’s sport in Victoria, if not Australia,’’ Beasley said.
‘‘The pathways for girls’ football opens up plenty of doors in regard to playing TAC Cup under-18 football for our region and we are seeing now the opportunity to play on the big stage in the AFLW competition.
‘‘A quality coach is paramount for this to go ahead and our club is keen to provide the necessary foundations for the right person. We would be more than happy to help them obtain the relevant coaching accreditation and lend additional support in their coaching of the side.’’
The season starts in late April. Training is due to start at the end of this month, so it is important the role is filled as soon as possible.
