Band heads to big comp

March 13, 2018

The Mitchell Shire Concert Band is playing a final rehearsal in Seymour on March 25 before heading off to Melbourne to compete at the National Band Championships.

The Mitchell Shire Concert Band is competing at the National Band Championships in Melbourne on March 31 for the first time in living memory.
In preparation for this competition the MSCB, a volunteer not-for-profit community group, is playing a free pre-Nationals concert at the Seymour Senior Citizens Hall on March 25 at 3pm.
In this final rehearsal show they will play their four competition pieces plus some old favourites.
The competition pieces include a hymn, Third Mode Melody by Thomas Tallis, a march, Belle of Chicago by John Phillip Sousa, a piece of own choice, Quixotic Episode by Robert Sheldon, and a set piece, In the Forest of the King by Pierre LaPlante.
The National Band Championships will be the MSCB’s biggest event since competing and coming second in the 2004 Bendigo Eisteddford Concert Band competition.
