Baptism of fire for new water minister

MINISTER for Agriculture and Water Resources David Littleproud made his first visit to the Goulburn Valley since being promoted to the ministry when he travelled to Shepparton on Thursday.

Mr Littleproud met with a group of Lancaster irrigators before attending a Shepparton water forum where he faced tough questions about the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

The future of the basin plan has been cast into doubt after a disallowance motion in the Senate earlier this year that prompted the Victorian and NSW water ministers to threaten to walk away from the plan.
