YOUNG people from around the world are coming to Australia and the Rochester Lions Club is calling for volunteer host families.

YOUNG people from around the world are coming to Australia and the Rochester Lions Club is calling for volunteer host families.

The international guests visit as a part of Lions International’s youth exchange program and are in the country for six weeks.

‘‘We would like to help families welcome international guests to Rochester,’’ club secretary John Prigg said.

‘‘The club can help organise it and will help wherever we can.’’

The exchange program aims to ‘‘create and foster a spirit of understanding among the people of the world’’.

In hosting a young person, you get the opportunity to experience foreign cultures in your home as well as sharing your culture with the overseas guest.

‘‘We would also like to help young people to go on exchange overseas,’’ Mr Prigg said.

“It’s a great experience that sees them leave as kids and come back as young adults.

‘‘We’ve had many young people complete the exchange in the past and would love to organise others to do the same.’’

If you would like to be a host or would like to go on exchange, contact Mr Prigg on 5484 1493.
