Lions Youth of the Year

The Lions Youth of the Year is aimed at all young people who seek to improve their skills before entering the workforce or other endeavours.

Students from Yarrawonga, Illa Crawford and Sam Willett commenced their journey at Yarrawonga Lions Club Youth of the Year on February 20, 2018 at ClubMulwala where Sam was judged overall winner on the evening with Illa being awarded public speaking winner.
Lions would like to thank the judges on the evening Michelle Church, Dean McDonald and Bill Farrell.
The next level of competition, Regional Youth of the Year was held on Sunday, March 4 2018 at the Yarrawonga Yacht Club.
Contestants in this level were Sam Willett from Yarrawonga College P-12, David Strachan from Corowa High School, Ellie Jones from Cobram Secondary College and Riley Wilson from St Mary’s of the Angels Secondary College.  
The judges commented on the high level and difficulty in determining a winner.
After long deliberation the judges declared David Strachan overall winner and Ellie Jones Public Speaker of Region 4.  
David will now go on to compete at district level on Sunday, March 25 in Barooga.
A big thank you goes to the judges; Functions Manager of Club Mulwala Karen Jones, Councilor and former Mayor of Moira Shire Peter Mansfield and Configuration and Quality Manager BAE Systems Mulwala Damian Appleton.
A very special thank you is extended to Rod Riding of the Yarrawonga Lions Club for organizing and overseeing both the club and regional competitions.
