The community of Devenish is asking local people from Benalla and its surrounding villages to take part in the town’s Good Friday fundraiser on Saturday, March 17.
The event, which starts at 2pm, will include fireworks, live music, a fully licensed bar, miniature train rides and an auction of more than 100 items, which have been donated.
The Devenish community has already raised more than $20000 for this year’s appeal.
A large portion of that money, $17000, was raised from a Lamb Drive held in collaboration with the Livestock Association in Shepparton last October.
Almost 100 lambs and sheep were donated for that event.
The Good Friday Appeal raises much-needed funds for equipment, research and education to support the work of The Royal Children’s Hospital.
Since its inception the Good Friday Appeal has raised more than $327 million.
Organisers are hoping that this year’s appeal will beat the record set last year when more than $17.5 million was raised.
While fundraising efforts are already under way, the formal appeal will take place on Friday, March 30.
