WORKS to repair the Kilmore-Lancefield Road have been delayed due to the discovery of a federally protected species of grass.

WORKS to repair the Kilmore-Lancefield Road have been delayed due to the discovery of a federally protected species of grass.

VicRoads acting Regional Director Brian Westley said they had no choice but to halt their efforts.

“We’ve been looking forward to getting on with fixing this deteriorated section of road, but this discovery means there is a process we must follow,” Mr Westley said.

“Patching works have been completed near Lancemore Hill to improve safety while we gain the required Commonwealth approvals and we hope to be able to start this work in the 2018/19 financial year.

“We’re asking drivers to be patient and drive with extra care while we work to get these approvals in place as quickly as possible so works can begin.

“We apologise to drivers for the inconvenience caused and for the delay in the time taken to repair this road.”
