THE second Roman Middleton Charity Golf Day at Heathcote Golf Club raised more than $15,000 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal and Ronald McDonald House.
David and Allisyn Clouston with Jess and Sonny Middleton organised the day on March 30 and were overwhelmed with the community’s generosity as the total raised soared past 2017’s total by $4000.
The event was not only to raise funds but also create awareness for Donate Life.
More than 116 players took to the field for a cracking day of golf — with another 30 onlookers and a team of volunteers.
“This is to give back to these organisations that have done so much to help Roman through his liver transplant — a healthy small boy one day and within 10 days was on the register for a new liver due to a superbug,” Allisyn said.
“Roman was on the register for just 12 hours before being blessed with his new liver.”
The day also included RCH Foundation community fundraising manager Donna Aranyi and Bendigo Health’s nurse donation specialist Craig Sloan, who both spoke to participants.
“We urge everyone to discuss their donation decision with family and friends and register on the Donate Life website,” Allisyn said.
“We would like to thank the Heathcote Golf Club, all of our sponsors and the players and supporters for all their help.
“We’d also like to thank all those willing volunteers on the day, they have helped make this an event to be proud of.”
